Sam Baptiste grows some of the finest winegrapes in Canada at Inkameep Vineyards which he manages for the Osoyoos Indian Band. This Merlot, grown exclusively for Morning Bay since 2002, comes from Z-Block, a tiny knoll at the back of the vineyard. The 2005 summer provided ample heat for ripening but cool fall evenings preserved crisp acidity.

We aged this award winning wine two years in our concrete “cave” at our winery on Pender Island in used French barriques. This concentrated the bright plum flavours and deepened darker layers of chocolate and licorice. This wine won a bronze medal at the 2008 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. Enjoy this rich red wine with steak or roast beef.
